Online Dating - What’s To Lose?

By

With the Internet growing more and more every day, you now find yourself doing things on your computer that before you wouldn't even dream of doing. You can shop, get music and films, read a book and many other things from the comfort of your own home. You can even earn money from your house, so it seems only right that you should be able to date online too!

Online Dating is a fairly new phenomenon, yet so many people are choosing to date this way. You have to ask yourself the question - why? The answer would be - because it’s easy! You join a dating site, some you pay for, some are completely free, you enter a few details about yourself and, as if magic, your perfect companion appears right in front of you!

It seems to good to be true, but believe it or not, it can be this simple! You can choose to browse members of the opposite sex for someone that appeals to you and get to know them without the pressure of being something you're not just to please. The same applies to them, they could come across you on these dating sites and really like the look of you so start up a conversation.

The good things about online dating are many. You can get to know somebody for their personality and not their looks. And you can just be yourself. You can determine whether or not you have things in common, without having to go through the awkward dating scenarios. If you don't like the same music, or have the same taste in films, you can move on to the next - no excuses, no awkwardness, easy!

Some people also find that they are more confident talking on the Internet than they are face to face. Not to put on an act, but just to be themselves, without wondering if the other person is scrutinizing them. Everyone has hang ups about the way they look, and online dating is especially good if you have maybe just entered the dating game after a while out. It’s a good way to get in to the flow of things again, learn how to flirt again etc.

The downside of online dating is that you never really know who or what you are getting. You could be talking to somebody completely different from what they are making themselves out to be. It would be very disappointing to talk to a Brad Pitt look-alike on the Internet and then meet and realizing he is more like The Pitt’s!

There is also a safety issue that you must bear in mind when deciding to meet somebody who you have met on the Internet! Make sure you always tell somebody where you are going, we've all heard the scary stories on the news!

All in all, online dating can be a good thing for many people, but you need to be sensible about it all. If you are careful and do things properly, you could end up meeting the love of your life and living happily ever after!
