Ready Or Not?

By

There is the saying: “Love is like playing the piano. First, you must learn the rules. And then you must forget the rules and play it with your heart.”

Getting ready for love is one of the most exciting things one can do in his or her single life. Whether you have gotten out of string of failed relationships or if you have never really experienced having a relationship before, the wonderful about getting ready for love is that it is customized based on your individuality and make as a person.

You can never really tell the exact time where love shall come knocking at the door of your heart, but if you are like most single people, you are very excited to meet the right person. Getting ready for love is not just about making yourself look good for the other person, although there is some level of importance to that.

The more important aspects of getting ready for love which are not lauded or shown in romantic movies needs to be cultivated as well: things such as character, a properly defined self from which you draw your likes, dislikes, strengths, weaknesses and limitations as a person. A person who has no good command of his or her sense of identity and gets involved in the throes of romantic emotion may look good in the movies but not in real life.

Ultimately, a person cannot really give what he or she inherently does not have. To love someone else you must love yourself. To be able to get ready for love, you need to have love overflowing in your heart first. You treat the one you love in the way you treat yourself, so you be well able to love and value yourself as well as other forms of love you have cultivated in friendships and family.
